Vikings Win Home Opener!!Posted Monday, April 07, 2008 by David Newell After a difficult 1st inning, Corning West was able to bounce back and beat EFA by a score of 11-7. The Vikings showed a lot of heart and character as they battled back. West scored their 1st 2 runs of the game in the 3rd inning from a 2RBI base hit from Zach LeBarron. After reaching on base hits, Jeffrey Christian and Dillon Bailey crossed the plate. LeBarron later scored on a Robert Bailey RBI single to make the score 6-3. The Vikings got on the board again in the 4th on a Dillon Bailey RBI double scoring Nate Osgood who reached on a base hit. In the bottom of the 5th the Vikings exploded for 9 runs. Collecting RBI hits in the 5th were Will Madison, TJ Kizis, Dillon Bailey, Zach LeBarron and Aaron Freeman. Kevin Donovan lead the Vikings to their first win of the season from the mound. The effort and determination was great. Donovan was around the strike zone for his 5 innings. He struck out 5, walked 1, allowed 8 hits and 2 earned runs. Another impressive statistic from Donovan was his nearly 3 strikes to 1 ball ratio. Zach LeBarron came in for the final 2 innings holding EFA to 0 runs on 3 hits and no walks.
